Apple Spider

We were invited by some friends at church to join them for an afternoon of making apple cider. When I told the girls where we were going Catherine was very confused. "Apple spider? How do you make apple spiders?"

Anyway, the girls had a ton of fun running around, playing, and helping make the cider!
Em had just woken from her nap and was not impressed at first

Catherine was by far the most interested. She loved watching and helping with the apple press!

They helped by turning the crank and throwing apples into the grinder at the top

Grabbing apples

The men were happy to let the girls use this as a learning experience

After the apples were all ground up, they turned the press to get all the juice out

It dripped out into the pot on the ground

Catherine was so excited!

Waiting for some cider to come out

Emmy grinding a few more apples

Waiting patiently

Catherine caught the first drops!

Mmmm

Evie's turn!

After the cider was finished, the girls even managed to get a wagon ride!
It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, and the girls learned so much. We have enjoyed the quart of cider we took home, and it's extra good because we helped make it!
